Characteristics of a Believer's Walk

New Life

Romans 6:4  Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in the newness of life.

When that resurrection power brought Jesus back to life from the dead, it represented exactly what we should accept in being made a new creature in Christ Jesus. We are a new creature in Christ Jesus, when we sincerely repent for all the old sins of the past, and believe that Jesus gave us a born again spirit.  Our spirit became completely alive unto God, and could fellowship with Jesus, in prayer and reading the Word of God.

Faith

2 Corinthians 5 :7-- For we walk by faith, not by sight.

When the Holy Spirit makes us aware of Jesus amazing love, and tugs at our heart strings to accept him as our Lord and Savior, that measure of faith that Jesus Christ is truly God, is the same faith that will grow stronger as we grow in the "grace and knowledge" of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Spirituality

Galatians 5:16--This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.

When you spend enough time reading the word of God (consuming the bread of life) and praying (fellowshipping with Jesus Christ) and drinking of the water of life (allowing the Holy Spirit to teach and comfort you) you will be able to walk in the Spirit.

If you neglect to move more toward Jesus Christ, and turn away from Him, to walk after the fleshly desires and toward the sinful people of the world, you will imitate their wrong doing, to be accepted by them

The "error" of the world, cannot compensate for the "emptiness" that is felt when one is not in fellowship with Jesus, or when they have never discovered this wonderful love in His precious word.

Charity, is that genuine Christ-like compassionate love for people, that will bring peace to a sin battered and bruised world.

Consistency

Ephesians 4:1--I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called.

To walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called, means to take the results that Jesus produced, seriously. Jesus gave the power to do the same works he did to his apostles and disciples, so they could further the gospel, by ministering to even greater multitudes. To walk worthy means to live a righteous life, as an example to the unsaved.

To be consistent, you must have your only purpose as a minister of the gospel, to spread the good news of Jesus Christ. To reflect Jesus character in "goodness", while continuously doing the works He did.

Love

Ephesians 5:2--And walk in love, as Christ hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet smelling savour.

Walking in the Love of Christ is to be able to freely give that kind, considerate, love that he gives to us. A love so pure and holy, that people can't even conceive the depth of his perfect love.

Caution

Ephesians 5:15--See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise.

You are to be heedful of circumstances or consequences, not in poor judgment and lacking in the proper purpose, but you are to walk with the wisdom, and discernment bestowed upon a Christian upon maturity.

Illumination

I John 1:7-But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.

We should walk, as Jesus walked according to his commandments, in his perfect love, and constantly in tune with the Holy Spirit and in the light (understanding and guidance) of the Lord's way.

Christ likeness

I John 2:6-And when Abram was ninety years old and nine, the Lord appeared to Abram, and said unto him, I am the Almighty God; walk before me, and be thou perfect.

Psalms 56:13-For thou hast delivered my soul from death: wilt not thou deliver my feet from falling, that I may walk before God in the light of the living?

When you grow spiritually in the "grace and knowledge" of the Lord Jesus Christ, you keep a desire deep in your soul to serve the Lord. The reason you keep Jesus commandments is because you love him, and recognize all he's done for you, and will continue to do for you because of his great love for you.

Walking in Truth

Psalms 26:3-For thy lovingkindness is before mine eyes: and I have walked in thy truth.

Psalms 86:11-Teach me thy way, O Lord; I will walk in thy truth, as we have received a commandment from the Father.

When you "hunger and thirst" after the righteousness of God, that deep desire will lead you into a deeper relationship with the Lord, you want to know the complete truth of the word of God, because of that spiritual zeal, and nothing else will satisfy your soul.
