General Patton Commands A Prayer
The troops were sent in three different directions toward the final battle to Bastogne France, by General Patton. It was in the winter and snow and ice were deep, the soldiers were moving day and night to get there on a very short scheduled time frame.
General Patton was told by the generals over him that he would have to call off the march toward their targeted area, because it was predicted that the bad weather would grow worse on the next day.
He said he wasn't going to keep his soldiers back, that they would be able to march on, to fight that battle at Bastogne.
He called in the chaplain and commanded him to write him a prayer, that would be effective enough for the Lord to change the weather.
The chaplain said he didn't know if he could ask God to change the weather so they could go in to kill the enemy. Patton said you write it, and get it to me within the hour.
When he got the prayer written by the chaplain, he read it and prayed for the Lord to change the weather, and the next day they had the best weather they'd had in a long time.
After they had defeated the Nazi's, General Patton ordered them to find the Chaplain and give him a medal, because his prayer had been effective in persuading God to change the weather, and that helped to change the war.
Here is one of General Patton's Prayers:
Almighty and most merciful Father, we humbly beseech thee, of thy great goodness to restrain these immoderate
rains, with which we've had to contend. Grant us fair weather for battle. Graciously hearken to us as soldiers who
call upon thee that armed with thy power we may advance from victory to victory, and crush the oppression and
wickedness of our enemies and establish thy justice among men and nations. ~ Amen
